  • Nope, there’s no dress code! Feel free to wear anything you’d like and that allows you to move comfortably.

Recommendations based on class style listed below:

    Ballet:

Of course, traditional ballet class attire is a leotard, tights, and ballet slippers, but at The Fifth we welcome you to wear whatever attire makes them feel ready to dance.

Anything from t-shirts, leggings and shorts to wrap-skirts and layered warm-ups are acceptable forms of attire.

You also don’t need ballet shoes if you don’t have any! Dancers can choose to invest in ballet slippers if they’d prefer, but are also able to take Ballet class in socks!

    Contemporary/Floorwork:

It’s highly recommended to bring extra layers of pants and long sleeves to any Contemporary class in case of working on floorwork. The majority of Contemporary classes include components on the floor, whether it be a warm-up or a whole floorwork drills portion.

Dancers attending Contemporary classes are welcome to wear whatever dance or athletic wear that makes them feel good. Popular attire choices include anything from track pants, basketball shorts and baggy t-shirts, to leotards, tights or shorts/leggings.

    Modern:

Dancers attending Modern classes are welcome to wear whatever dance or athletic wear that makes them feel good. Popular attire choices include anything from track pants, basketball shorts and baggy t-shirts, to leotards, tights or shorts/leggings.

    Mat classes:

For Pilates or Yoga, prioritize comfort and movement. Wearing the right attire is personal, so choose clothes that allow you to focus entirely on your practice and not on adjusting your clothes.

Good examples include high-waisted leggings that stay in place, and a fitted top that won't ride up during inversions.

+ We recommend bringing your mat from home. A cleaning station in set up in the main studio to wipe down your mat after class.

  • At The Fifth Dance, we are an adults-only studio, with the minimum age requirement set at 18 years old. This approach ensures that our classes are structured to meet the unique learning needs, pace, and techniques suited for adult dancers.

We believe that younger students thrive best when learning alongside peers of a similar age and developmental stage. For this reason, we only consider younger students who are already at a pre-professional level and can adapt to the demands of an adult learning environment.

Our priority is to provide high-quality, tailored training for every dancer, ensuring they have the best opportunity to grow and succeed.

  • Absolutely! We believe the 'professional dancer’ title doesn’t end when you retire. Everyone who is craving the movement and once was a part of the professional environment can use our discounted rates for pros. Tell us a bit more about you, we love to hear dance stories

POLICIES

    • Students may only arrive 5 minute late. Any further lateness may cause disruptions to the flow of class.

    • When arriving late, please wait for an appropriate time to join in: for example after the end of an exercise.

    • Early arrival prior to the start of class is encouraged to provide proper arrival and warm-up. This is also a sign of respect to fellow students and the teacher.

    • If a student is consistently late, teachers are welcome to have a chat with said student reminding them of our late policy, with emphasis on arriving 5-10 minutes prior to the start of class and/or suggesting a switch to a class that better suits their schedule (depending on the situation like drop-in class vs series).

    • If arriving late, students risk loosing their spot to someone on the waitlist.

    • The Fifth Dance reserves the right to charge a late-fee if lateness causes a disturbance.

    • If a student does not arrive to a scheduled class, this is considered a no-show.

    • A $10 CAD no-show fee will be charged for the third missed class and each subsequent missed class if a student fails to attend a booked session without prior cancellation. This fee is in addition to the regular class price.

    • Students using class cards will lose their class credit in addition to incurring the no-show fee.

    • Regardless of the circumstance, no-show classes are not subject for refunded or credit.

  • Series Cancellation Policy:

All series follow a sequential structure, which causes the classes in a series to be linked to each other. Attempts to cancel any individual classes in a series will result in a cancellation of the entire class series, including future and past classes, attended or not. To be noted that the cancellation of a series may prompt late-cancel fees for any classes already occurred in the course.

Students must notify The Fifth Dance of any course or class series withdrawal at least seven (7) days prior to the start date to receive a full money credit to their Momence account. Credits issued from withdrawals do not expire and can be used toward any service offered by The Fifth Dance.

Please note that no refunds or credits will be issued for withdrawals or absences once the series begins.

    Switching Series:

Switching into another course/class series of equal value is permitted within the first two weeks of a course/class series, provided there is availability in the desired course/class series.

    Attendance and Make-Up Classes:

Make-up classes are not available for any missed sessions.

As the course/class series follows a sequential structure, consistent attendance for the full duration is expected.

    • Cancellations or modifications to drop-in classes can be made anytime up to 4 hours prior to the start of class.

    • A cancellation fee of $ 5 CAD will be applied if a drop-in class is cancelled less than 4 hours before the start of class.

    • Students using a class card will have the late cancelled class deducted from their total remaining classes.

    • All PWYC classes, events & workshops are non-refundable.

    Minimum Enrollment Requirement:

The Fifth Dance reserves the right to cancel any class or workshop two hours before the start time if there is less than 3 students signed up. If a class is cancelled, students will be notified by email and automatically receive a class credit in their Momence account.

  • For Private Sessions, all bookings, changes and cancellations must be done 7 days prior to the class. Late cancellation will result in the loss of the private session and a cancellation fee equal to 20% of the value of the session.

  • All class card packages are non-refundable, non-transferable and have an expiration date according to the package purchased:

    Intro Special - 1 month
