Dancing from the Inside Out: Drawing from over 12 years of movement research in contemporary dance and somatic coaching as well as acting for both stage and camera, Janelle is passionately committed in exploring human connection in performance. Beginning on the floor to wake up your senses through image-based exercises, we flow through this class in a seamless sequence that brings you to your feet with focus on breath and present-moment awareness. We will literally move from the ground up. As the class progresses so does our energy level and effort demanded. Bring your curiosity and sense of play to experience a blend of technical exercises and improvisational elements alongside movement games that amplifying your listening skills and empathy to yourself and other.

About Janelle
Janelle Hacault is a Filipinx/French Canadian professional contemporary dance artist, choreographer, teacher, trained singer and actor, and embodiment coach based in Montréal, QC. She is a graduate of the School of Contemporary Dancers in Winnipeg and holds a BA Honours degree from the University of Winnipeg in Dance and a BA degree in theatre performance.
A few noteworthy credits, Janelle has performed onstage in Annie: la comédie musicale (Just for Laughs) and Rhapsodie (Sylvain Émard Danse/DanseDanse), on film (Virginie Brunelle, Angèle Dubeau, Céline Dion, Trip the Light Fantastic), and on television (Chanteurs Masqués, Révolution season 3). She also works as a dancer in circus with Les 7 Doigts de la Main with director, Gypsy Snider for Virgin Voyages. A sought-after choreographer, Janelle has created several contemporary works of her own and has also choreographed for large musical productions, such as Mamma Mia, Grease, Chicago, and an original musical Ships with in collaboration with actor/musician, Jeremy Walmsley.
Holding a certification in the Duchêne Method at Art of Alignment Academy, when not performing, Janelle works as an embodiment coach, offering one-on-one sessions of somatic processing to clients. Additionally, she runs group Embodiment Sessions that mix dance and meditation in effort to increase awareness and movement wellness for people from all walks of life, and teaches a regular dance workshop for professionals collaborating with a fellow Asian artist entitled Asian Artists in Leadership to uplift Asian voices in the dance sector. Janelle has been teaching for over 12 years to a wide range of students including inner city children, 55+ seniors, people with physical and mental limitations, dance professionals, and teen troupes. Her approach to teaching is a horizontal leadership where sharing circle and reflections are book ends to the movement practice, and body-mind centering is the foundation of every exercise. Creating a safe-space of inclusivity and maintaining an open community-orientated environment is paramount to her practice.
