This workshop is designed for the advanced dancer looking to understand how musculoskeletal injuries occur in dance. We will dive into why we are susceptible to injuries, and what is in our control to prevent them. We will experiment with movement testing and general exercises as a group. To end off, Raphaële will walk through general guidelines of injury management and how to seek professional help.

About Raphaële
Raphaële is a bilingual physiotherapist (FR/EN) graduated from the University of Ottawa and McMaster University. She prides herself in specializing in treating dancers, active folks, and pre/postpartum clients.
As a former semi-professional dancer-athlete, Raphaële hones in on the importance of movement-based rehab to decrease pain and increase function. Manual therapy, and education on reducing pain between physiotherapy sessions are also core components of her approach.
Raphaële currently holds a variety of continuing education courses such as the Level 1 AIM Orthopedic Level, and has completed the Assessing&Treating Dancers and Artistic Athletes course. She has been fortunate to treat dancers from the North Side Crew/Raptors, the National Ballet School, and the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre.
Outside of work, you may catch Raphaële doing functional strength training, discovering new restaurants, spending time outdoors, discovering new music, and dancing!
