This class is heavily influenced by my ongoing work in Dr. Margie Gillis' Legacy Project Company. Structured as a welcoming and playful movement meditation, this invitation (through guided improvisation) encourages deep listening and recognizing personal instinct and nuance as a well-spring for resilience and creativity. We'll dance joyfully and playfully to bring out your inner artist.

About Caitlin

Caitlin Griffin is a Tkaronto based artist best known for her work in ballet, contemporary, modern and improvised dance as a performer and teacher.

Since 2016 Caitlin has been an artist with the Margie Gillis Dance Foundation: Legacy Project Company under the direction of Officer of the Order of Canada, Margie Gillis. She performs with the Evolutions program, touring in Canada and the United States, dancing in Loon, Broken English, & The Complex Simplicity of Love. Other repertoire includes The Pull of the Seasons, To Lose The World and The Whole Bloomin' Thing, based on excerpts from James Joyce's Ulysees.

Career highlights include dancing with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens (Gradimir Pankov) for 7 seasons of Casse-Noisette , and in the 2010 Olympic Opening Ceremonies' Sacred Grove choreographed by Jean Grand-Maitre and directed by David Atkins Entertainment.

In 2019 Caitlin was one of 10 Canadian artists selected by the Canadian Wilderness Artist Residency to paddle the Yukon River and present her inclusive dance practice at the Riverside Arts Festival in Dawson City, YT.

In 2012 Caitlin spent 5 months at the Galilee Dance Village, completing KCDC's Dance Journey Program with the support of a BC Arts Council Professional Development Grant.

Caitlin is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) and teaches ballet, pointe, contemporary dance, injury prevention, improvisation and performance technique. She joined the staff at Harbour Dance Centre in 2017 and completed the Introductory Dance for Parkinson's Course by Mark Morris Dance Group in early 2020 hosted by The National Ballet of Canada.

Caitlin choreographs for stage and screen to promote the visibility of dance in diverse settings. She guest teaches frequently across Canada for professional training programs and festivals.

Caitlin's work in the community also includes her ongoing mentorship by Margie Gillis in Conflict Transformation Strategies.

Caitlin launched Grandpa Stamps Greeting Card Co. in 2020 with proceeds from this business going to support the Huntington Disease Youth Organization for which she is also an Ambassador.
