Beginner Pointe Series II with Järvi Raudsepp
This is a continuation from Series I that occurred in September & October. This 7-week series is designed for dancers who are ready to reinforce basic concepts and introduce more difficult skills in their pointe journey. We will make sure that you have an understanding of basic ballet concepts and mechanics, anatomy, and sufficient strength and confidence. This course builds on foundational knowledge, guiding you step-by-step through the essentials and more challenging aspects of pointe work and ballet.
Course Details: Duration: 7 weeks Level: Beginner - Perfect for students who've previously completed our Absolute Beginner Pointe Series, Beginner Series I or advanced dancers looking to refine their pointe work by going back to the foundations of pointe work. One year of consistent ballet class experience is required. Six months of experience on pointe is required.
Course Content: -Reinforcing Proper Alignment: Ensure correct positioning of feet inside pointe shoes. -Going on Pointe: Advance techniques for continuing a solid foundation of pointe at the barre. -Longer Combinations: Practice longer combinations to build stamina and endurance. -Single-Leg Rises Preparation: Build strength and technique for single-leg rises. -Turns in Center Preparation: Prepare for turns in the center, enhancing balance and coordination. -Center Work: Gain confidence, strength, and technique for unsupported movements.

About Järvi
Järvi Raudsepp is a professional ballet dancer and teacher trained by Nadia Veselova Tencer. She began her career at the age of 17, and was a company member with several international companies through the years (Estonian National Ballet, Orlando Ballet, Ontario Ballet Theatre, and Ballet Rhode Island). Most recently, Järvi was a corps de ballet dancer with the World Tour of Phantom of the Opera (Broadway staging) for its two-year run across South-East Asia. Her current performing career involves dancing with Moonlight Ballet and Who Creations in Toronto.
Järvi has taught classical ballet since 2010 (Vaganova method), and has been a faculty member and guest teacher across multiple studios within the GTA. She has won awards for her choreography, and is a rehearsal coach for pre-professional dancers entering Youth America Grand Prix. Many of her students have gone on to professional dance careers, and have graduated from the dance programs at Toronto Metropolitan University and York University.
Järvi is passionate about moving classical ballet towards becoming a more accessible and inclusive art form. She also loves taking students of all ages through the intricacies of ballet training with joy, excitement, and understanding. Järvi has had the honour of teaching at The Fifth since 2022!
