This course is a continuation of the Intermediate Contemporary Series I. This series will be the perfect bridge for those dancers looking to refine their foundational skills, become more comfortable moving in and out of the floor, and begin to create their own phrases. We will strengthen, learn injury prevention, and even find our way upside down! This fun and judgement-free series will provide the tools for your growth while exploring yourself deeper along the way.

Course Content:
Conditioning and Injury Prevention : Build strength and stability through weekly exercises targeting the main muscles that will be essential for growing your technique and proper form
Skill Breakdown :Designated time to learn new skills such as rolls, shoulder stands, inversions and jumps, with space to ask questions and practice
Floor work: Explore new and creative pathways to travel in and out of the floor with contemporary floorwork foundation
Improvisation: Opportunities to take the skills and pathways learnt and interpret them through your own style and creative choices
Phrase work : Enhance your ability to pick up choreography quickly as well as learn how to build your own phrases

About Marina
Marina Robinson is a Vancouver born movement artist, choreographer and teacher who finds joy, spaciousness and depth through the world of dance. Marina began her professional training at the Source Dance Company in 2018, and continued on to learn from artists and companies such as Emmalena Fredrickson, Radical System Art and RUBBERBANDance. Robinson specialises in contemporary floorwork and is currently expanding her foundational knowledge of breakdance. In 2023, Robinson produced and choreographed her own new work titled, Unfurl, which was presented at the Toronto Fringe Festival. Most recently, she performed in Liminal Bodies, an AR generated dance piece by Sarah U as part of Common Ground Dance Festival. Marina continues to immerse herself in the Toronto arts community as is excited to be joining the faculty at The Fifth Dance.
