Director's Letter | A new era
Hello everyone,
I wanted to start this letter with a huge thank you to all of you who keep on supporting us from near and far. There's nothing more reassuring than to know the work we are all pouring our hearts into is not only well received but needed and appreciated. Rest assured, I and everyone who is a part of The Fifth Family are eager to help support our dance community in any way we possibly can.
This is why, effective April 1st, we have taken over the lease of the Baker Studio until the end of August when every artist and arts organization that occupies an Artscape unit in the Distillery needs to vacate.
With the closure of so many community spaces like Dovercourt House, GMD and Dancemakers themselves, we believe that now more than ever we have to do whatever we can to keep our art form alive and most importantly, our community thriving (not just surviving). If you ever had a doubt, now is the time to fight for what you love the most. We are not asking for donations, all we ask from you is to help us fill the space and make the most out of it for the next 5 months. So, come to class and help us spread the word. The space will be available for rentals starting at $20/hr with our artist rate.
We will begin the search for a new space in the coming weeks and appreciate any leads (or ideas) that you might have. At the end of the day, no matter where we go next in our journey but who we go with. You are all our why and our drive.
With much love and gratitude,
