About Anita

Since returning to Canada after a fun 14 year stint working in Ireland and New York City, Anita has channeled her extensive dance and theatre experience into a lifelong passion: CircusYoga: The Human Art of Play. “Teaching and coaching allows me to engage and activate positive energy in others -- to spark the divine through drama, movement, mindfulness, music and laughter.” A member of Actors Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild, Anita was a founding member of Twin Cities Theatre Company and Horizontal Eight Theatre whose first short film Viennese Oedipus was featured at the short film festival in The Hague. Her three one-act plays Grappa, The Spiders’ Feast and Potato Prayers were produced professionally in Toronto and published in Canada’s Theatre Magazine Theatrum. Her play Daisyworld was produced at the Vineyard Playhouse on Martha’s Vineyard. Her short play Around Midnight was chosen for The Black Cat Cabaret Short Play Festival in Kelowna. As an actress, audiences have enjoyed her performances in plays by Chekov, Pinter, Shakespeare, De Ghelderode, Strindberg, Wilde, and Camus in Toronto, Dublin, Edinburgh, Moscow and New York. Anita was also a contributing choreographer with her unique dance theatre pieces for Built On Stilts Dance Festival on Martha’s Vineyard (11 seasons) and taught for Way Off Broadway, a children’s musical theatre school in New York (8 seasons). She is the recipient of over 20 arts council grants in Canada, the U.S. and Ireland. She provides CircusYoga: The Human Art of Play classes and sessions in schools as ‘Mindful Fun’, in businesses and corporations for ‘Team-Building’, as ‘Professional Development’ workshops for school districts, the Association of British Columbia Drama Educators, and to interested individuals who are looking to reconnect with their own dramatic possibilities, talents and dreams. Anita’s latest piece And Then We Danced was produced as a Dance/Theatre piece at the Built on Stilts Dance Festival on MV and at the Asphalt Jungle Shorts in Kitchener/Waterloo and the text was published in The Stage Light Flickers in 2021. Early in 2024 Anita produced the short film Squeeze Left which was selected for screening at the Canadian Film Festival in Toronto as part of the Canadian Comedy Film Igniter Challenge.
